Vikings get decimated in the first match of season

Perkiomen Valley’s Unified Bocce Team faced a loss of (0-4) against Upper Merion’s team in a match on Thursday, December 14th, during the first home match of the season.

Each school fielded two teams of 6-8 people and played on separate courts. Perkiomen Valley’s Orange and White teams played two games. The Orange team lost with scores of (3-8) and (3-4), and the White team lost with scores of (4-11) and (4-9).

After an initial struggle, the Vikings were able to improve during the later half of the game. “I think we need to practice more before the next meet. We definitely started playing better towards the end,” said Evan Kenny, captain of the White Team.

Despite the loss, players in the team remain confident about the upcoming game. “I think we’re going to win the next game,” said Braxton Denner, another member of the White team. “We won’t lose the next game, that’s a promise.”

PV’s Bocce team will be facing off against Souderton Area High School at an away match on January 23rd. The team will also be fundraising through the Polar Plunge event at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia next year.
