National Charity League (NCL) is one of many volunteer groups that accommodate students in school districts in the Valley Forge area including Spring-Ford, Phoenixville, and Methacton.
Hailey Giordani is one of many students in the Perkiomen Valley School District who is a member of NCL. Her job title at NCL is the corresponding secretary.
“I’m in charge of taking attendance and sending/receiving correspondence,” Giordani said. The most rewarding part of NCL for Giordani was “seeing the people that are impacted by our work and the smiles I’ve seen.” Giordani’s group has mainly worked with Manna on Main, Special Olympics, Mitzvah Circle, and Project Linus. Her group would mainly cut and tie blankets for Project Linus and help cheer on the people who participated in Special Olympics.
Lisa Bruno, a patroness within the Valley Forge Chapter, is the Chapter’s President. Bruno has responsibilities including mission-based training which is meeting “with each board member to establish understanding of position responsibility and to leadership/work Style” and “Leadership, coaching and inspiration by sharing knowledge information with chapter president-elect, board members and patronesses.”
“NCL is very rewarding to me. I love to serve others in the community and NCL has allowed me to do more community service,” Bruno said.
Another patroness within NCL is Debra Labant. Her job title is parliamentarian which gives her the responsibility of “helping the president run efficient meetings, managing the chapter documents, and advising on rules of order”. Labant’s favorite experience she gets to enjoy through NCL is the quality time she gets to spend with her daughters and her friends she has made within the group.
“I love the feeling I get when I am volunteering and give him back to my community. I am also thankful that my daughters also feel the desire to give back to the community we live in,” Labant said.
NCL helps assist many different organizations in the area such as Safe from the Sun 5K, Habitat for Humanity, Daily Food Pantry, and Cradles to Crayons.
