Two Perkiomen Valley students won second and third place in designing the official poster for this year’s Philadelphia Auto Show. The contest was open to any public high school student in Philadelphia and Montgomery County school districts.
Seniors Kendall Trumbore and Olivia Newman won second and third place respectively in the competition. Both Kendall and Olivia are in Mr. Komp’s Graphic Design I class, where it was strongly encouraged for all students to participate. This year’s competition felt personal, as last year’s first-place winner came from nearby rival Methacton, Mr. Komp reminded his classes when talking about the contest.
Winning the poster competition is not just for pride, and there were serious prizes at stake. The top three finishers all won two tickets for each member of their art classes, their work would be included in the 2020 Auto Show Program, and their work would also be published on a poster displayed at this year’s Philadelphia Auto Show. Second and third place winners win $500 and $250 dollars respectively on top of this. While no money is given to the first-place winner, the first place winner wins a 13-inch Macbook Pro laptop, has their poster displayed in 500+ area car dealerships, and receives a letter of recognition from the Chairman of the Auto Show.
